How can topiramate (Topamax) cause glaucoma?

Topiramate is one of the sulfa-based anticonvulsant often prescribed for migraines. Like other sulfa-drugs (HCTZ, acetazolamide, CAIs) it can cause an idiosyncratic ciliary/choroid effusion leading to forward displacement of the iris with angle-closure.  This is treated with cyclogyl (not pilocarpine) to rotate the iris back. Also, a PI is not helpful as there is no pupil block.
