What is Henle’s layer?

This is the outer plexiform layer of the retina, the layer formed by the connections of the photoreceptors to the intermediate bipolar/horizontal cells. This layer lies somewhat obliquely as you move closer to the fovea. Fluid tends to accumulate in Henle’s layer and the oblique nerve fibers contribute to the petalloid pattern of edema seen at the macula on FA.
