How many elastic layers are there in Bruch’s membrane?

The central layer of Bruch’s membrane is elastic. It is sandwiched by two collagenous layers and the basement membrane of the RPE and choriocapillaris forms the outer layers. That’s five layers total.

I always confuse the number of elastic and collagen layers. Here’s a dumb mnemonic: “Elastic is fantastic, so you only need one!”
