What’s the difference between the American and Russian method of radial keratotomy?

With the American method, the incisions are created starting from the inner cornea and ending closer to the limbus (in-to-out). The Russian method involves incisions cut from the limbus TOWARD the optical center of the cornea (out-to-in) … creating deeper, powerful, and more dangerous cuts. While RK is no longer commonly performed in developed countries, it is still useful to know its history as these patients will be around for a long time.
